Introducing #SIC2024

Welcome to the online hackathon series, the SmartCity Innovation Challenge 2024, presented by Fable on. This program is aimed at empowering innovation and creativity among students in universities and colleges across India. Our vision is to strive for using cutting-edge technical solutions to solve the pressing problems urban environments are facing today.

Participants will also be granted an opportunity to work with field professionals on solving practical problems and contributing to the development of cities that are safer, more sustainable, and smarter. Join us in this exhilarating journey about our transformation of city living and help to determine the future of our cities.

About TRAFEEASE 2024

Traffease 2024 is the first series of hackathons as a part of the SmartCity Innovation Challenge 2024. This hackathon focuses on the development of intelligent traffic management to ensure road safety, which should be designed and implemented to flow and reduce congestion on roads with real-time data collected through cameras and sensors. You should be able to improve traffic flow in every city, reduce congestion, and provide safety for everyone on streets with creative remedies.

Essential characteristics:

  • Real-time traffic monitoring
  • Adaptive traffic signal control
  • Congestion prediction
  • Emergency vehicle prioritization

Join us in Traffease 2024 and be part of the movement to revolutionize urban traffic management and create smarter cities!

What to Build

For the Traffease 2024 hackathon, participants are expected to build a smart traffic management system that leverages real-time data from sensors and cameras to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve road safety. Your project should incorporate the following key components:

  1. Real-Time Traffic Monitoring:
  • Develop a system to collect and analyze traffic data continuously using sensors and cameras.
  • Implement data visualization tools to display traffic conditions in real-time.
  1. Adaptive Traffic Signal Control:
  • Create algorithms that dynamically adjust traffic signal timings based on real-time traffic data.
  • Ensure the system can respond to varying traffic conditions to optimize flow and reduce waiting times.
  1. Congestion Prediction:
  • Design predictive models to forecast traffic patterns and potential congestion points.
  • Integrate these models into the system to provide proactive traffic management.
  1. Emergency Vehicle Prioritization:
  • Develop a feature to prioritize emergency vehicles, ensuring they can navigate through traffic efficiently.
  • Implement communication protocols between the traffic management system and emergency services.

What to Submit

To complete the challenge, participants need to submit the following:

  1. Project Documentation:
  • Overview: A brief description of the project, its objectives, and the problem it aims to solve.
  • Technical Details: Detailed explanation of the technology stack used, system architecture, algorithms implemented, and any other technical aspects.
  • Installation and Usage Instructions: Step-by-step guide on how to set up and use the system.
  1. Working Prototype:
  • A functional prototype of the smart traffic management system.
  • Demonstrations of the key features, including real-time monitoring, adaptive signal control, congestion prediction, and emergency vehicle prioritization.
  1. Presentation:
  • A presentation (slides or video) summarizing the project, showcasing its features, and explaining its impact.
  • Highlight the innovation, technical complexity, and real-world applicability of your solution.
  1. Code Repository:
  • Link to the GitHub repository or any other code hosting platform containing the complete source code of the project.
  • Ensure the repository includes a README file with an overview and setup instructions.
  1. Demo Video:
  • A short video (3-5 minutes) demonstrating the working prototype and explaining the key functionalities.
  • Highlight the real-time data processing, adaptive control, and other significant aspects of the project.

By submitting these materials, participants will showcase their ability to design and implement an intelligent traffic management system, demonstrating innovation and technical expertise.
